Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan for sale for around €35m

The well-known Slieve Russell Hotel Golf & Country Club in Cavan has been put on the market with a price tag of €35m.

The hotel has 224 bedrooms, as well as banqueting and leisure facilities, and is situated on 300 acres of land, which includes a PGA Championship golf course, a 9-hole par 3 course and driving range.

The property is being sold by CBRE on behalf of the liquidators of the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation, Kieran Wallace and Eamonn Richardson, of Interpath Advisory.

First opened in 1990, the property has had around €7.5m invested in it since 2019.

“The unique opportunity to acquire one of Ireland’s best known and highly profitable resort hotels rarely presents itself,” said Paul Collins Head of Hotels, Ireland at CBRE.

“The scale of ongoing investment in the hotel’s facilities and growing business will appeal to the national and international investment market.”

The resort, which is situated in Ballyconnell, was once owned by businessman Sean Quinn.

The hotel has hit the market just days after the Mount Juliet estate in Co Kilkenny was also put up for sale and follows the recent sale of the five-star Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin.
