JIND: Haryana police have booked three Delhi-based travel agents for allegedly duping a Haryana-cadre IAS officer on the pretext of sending him on a foreign trip.
The accused, who duped Pankaj Singh, has been identified as Lavish Jain, his father Kamal Jain and mother Rama Jain.
The trio hails from Faridabad in Haryana and operates a tour and travel office in the national capital, police said.
Jind SP Sumit Kumar said, IAS officer Pankaj Singh, who is deputed as sub-divisional officer (SDM) of Jind block, has said in the complaint that the trio runs a tour and travels business in a joint venture with Rimi travel.
“I deposited Rs 2.81 lakh in different accounts including Lavish’s bank account on the pretext of a foreign trip to New Zealand. But the accused didn’t provide me with any tickets or documents relating to the trip. The accused has refused to return the amount,” his complaint reads, adding, he has “attached all the evidence”.
Diwan Singh, civil line police station in charge, said a case under sections 420 (cheating) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the IPC has been registered against the trio.
