Internova Travel Group, one of the world’s largest travel services companies, has just revealed the results of its recent survey, the ‘2024 Internova Index: North American Business Traveler Insights’ report, which indicates that the industry is seeing a strong demand for business travel . The research gathered insights from millions of travel bookings and a comprehensive survey of business travelers in the United States and Canada.

Boeing 737 plane skids off runway at Senegal’s main airport with 10 people injured

A Boeing 737 plane has skidded off the runway of Senegal’s main airport causing injuries to 10 people, four of whom are in a serious condition.

Flights have been suspended near the capital Dakar after the plane went into the grass before take-off during the early hours of Thursday, a spokesperson for the main airport Blaise Diagne said.

China has extended its visa-free travel program for citizens of 12 countries until December 31, 2025. This visa waiver extension aims to boost tourism and cultural exchange between China and these nations.

Nationals from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland can now visit China for short-term trips free of visa restrictions.

Vietnam Airlines to introduce flights from Munich

Vietnam Airlines is to introduce flights from Munich to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City starting in early October.

The Asian carrier will initially operate twice weekly to Hanoi and once per week to Ho Chi Minh City from 2 October. Another weekly flight between Munich and Ho Chi Minh City will be added to the schedule from December.

Vietnam Airlines will use Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the new routes from Munich offering three classes of travel: business, premium economy and economy.

Munich will become the airline’s fourth European route with services from Frankfurt, London Heathrow and Paris Charles

EU begins action against 20 airlines over greenwashing claims

The European Commission and EU consumer protection authorities have contacted 20 airlines regarding potentially misleading environmental claims, the EU announced this week.

The action follows concerns raised by European consumer organization BEUC and was led by watchdogs in Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway and Spain, but the 20 airlines were not identified in a statement published earlier this week.

The investigation is focusing on “claims made by the airlines that the CO2 emissions caused by a flight could be offset by climate projects or through the use of sustainable fuels, to which the consumers could contribute by paying additional fees.”
